EN: Homer’s Odyssey — the epic of return and eternal wandering — is approached here as a timeless journey that reflects the human search for meaning, memory, and home. Odysseus is presented not only as the king of Ithaca, but as a universal figure, embodying every person who navigates loss, transformation, and the desire to return to their inner self.
Director Giannis Poutachidis treats the Odyssey as a living theatrical body, combining multiple theatrical languages, music, movement, and spoken word. Drawing on his experience in multicultural and multilingual contexts, the performance transforms theatre into a shared space of encounter. The aim is not to retell the myth, but to rediscover the essence of theatre: play, imagination, collective presence, and the joy of being together.
NL: De Odyssee van Homer — het epos van terugkeer en eeuwige omzwerving — wordt hier benaderd als een tijdloze reis die de menselijke
zoektocht naar betekenis, herinnering en thuis weerspiegelt. Odysseusverschijnt niet alleen als de koning van Ithaka, maar als een universele figuur die iedereen belichaamt die zijn weg zoekt door verlies, verandering en het verlangen om terug te keren naar zijn innerlijke zelf.
Regisseur Giannis Poutachidis benadert de Odyssee als een levend theatraal lichaam, waarin verschillende theatrale talen samenkomen: muziek, beweging en het gesproken woord. Vanuit zijn ervaring in multiculturele en meertalige contexten verandert de voorstelling het theater in een gedeelde ontmoetingsruimte. Het doel is niet om de mythe opnieuw te vertellen, maar om de essentie van theater te herontdekken: spel, verbeelding, collectieve aanwezigheid en de vreugde van het samenzijn.
